Only five reasons?

John Hawkins has a great post on "5 Reasons Liberals Are Such Unpleasant People To Be Around". Pretty much nails it.

Of course, on this blog we welcome liberals. Keeps the comments interesting. Continuous wisdom would be so monotonous.

  1. This John Hawkins guy does not strike me as the sharpest knife in the drawer. The points he makes are rather, well, pointless.

    1. [Liberals a]re unhappy. He cites some studies that find correlation between happiness with political orientation. Correlation does not equal causation. There are also correlations between age and political orientation. Liberals tend to be younger. Does it mean that, by switching to Democrats you can shed 10 years? I don't think so. Likewise, people with the Down syndrome tend to be happier. That does not mean that everyone should strive to be like them.

    2. Liberals don't care as much about tradition. Conservatism is, by definition, about preserving the status quo. Ho hum.

    3. Liberals see people who disagree as evil. Funny, he does not provide any quotes from liberals establishing that. This is pure baloney. It is conservatives who tend to view everything in black-or-white, good-or-evil terms. Need I remind you which president used the expression "axis of evil" and once said "I don't do nuance?"

    4. Liberals aren't very religious. So what? The Taliban are way more religious than liberals in the US. Which crowd would Hawkins rather be with?

    5. Liberalism encourages arrogance. I dunno. This blog is a great counter example.
